Multi-residential architects
Apartments, townhouses and social housing designed for yield, amenity and approval, by the practice behind Hampton Quarter, Smith & Co and East Brunswick Village.
JAM Architects designs apartment buildings, townhouses and social housing across Melbourne and Geelong. Projects include Hampton Quarter (170+ apartments), Smith & Co in Collingwood (230+ apartments), the buildings of East Brunswick Village and 137 social housing homes at Lusher Road, Croydon.
Multi-residential architects
Multi-residential design is a balancing act: enough yield to make the project work, enough amenity to make the homes worth living in, and enough care with the street to win the planning permit. We have been finding that balance for developers, builders and community housing providers across Melbourne for more than 25 years.
Our multi-residential work ranges from Bakehouse Terraces in Fitzroy North, which keeps a 1902 bakehouse and reinterprets the terrace house, to Hampton Quarter, four buildings and more than 170 apartments along a bayside rail corridor.
Every project is shaped by shared space: courtyards, rooftop gardens and laneways that give residents somewhere to meet and give the building a generous face to the street.

What we design
Mid-rise and large apartment buildings such as Hampton Quarter, Ballarat Road (139 apartments) and Coppin Street (145 apartments).
Townhouse and terrace projects such as Bakehouse Terraces, Fitzroy North, that bring density to established streets.
Lusher Road, Croydon: 137 social housing homes delivered under the Victorian Government's Big Housing Build for Community Housing Victoria.
The residential buildings of East Brunswick Village, including Fasteners Way, Elm Grove and 149 Nicholson Street.
Passive design, rooftop solar and efficient services, with 149 Nicholson Street averaging 7.5 NatHERS stars.
Feasibility, massing and planning applications that test what a site can deliver before you commit.
